Every day had its own theme and we were able to provide an interesting insight into a number of careers pathways to tantalise the girls and encourage them to further research the opportunities that are open to them through our speakers,  daily advice emails and links to careers information, some of which we have included below.

Monday’s talk by the NHS gave the girls a chance to handle equipment used within nursing – with Year 11 particularly having the chance to perform and practise clinical skills! The NHS is one of the world’s largest employers and for many who attended, their preconceptions about nursing and what the NHS offers were challenged. Wendy Subhani led a brilliant session regarding the pharmaceutical industry and careers within it. Extra thanks to Wendy also because she then led a session for sixth formers where she looked at what HR departments look for in potential employees, with some sage advice on CVs and online profiles – employers do look at these! Rachel Matthews, who heads up the Journalism Department at Coventry University, shared with her audience her experiences as a professional journalist and provided some really good advice on how to get into the profession. This time it was about building an online profile but in a positive way ie personal blogs etc, but again with the caveat of thinking about your negative online profile too!
