Thinking of Joining us in Sept 2020?

Our Sixth Form Open Evening is on Tuesday 19 November 2019.

One of the best ways to find out about us is through our Sixth Form Open Events.

This year our Sixth Form Open Evening runs from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday 19th November, 2019.

During the course of the evening you will be able to hear why we think Shottery offers you something special and explore our offer through displays, meeting staff and most importantly by hearing from our A-level students. In addition, you will be able to see and experience our facilities.

Please register your interest  HERE

For details about parking see HERE

We encourage you to apply. We understand that the new GCSEs are more challenging and that grade boundaries are still shifting. So, if you are ambitious, have a love for learning and want to be a part of something special then we look forward to receiving your application. We love to give the right people the opportunity to succeed with us - ambition is at the heart of success.

If you are interested in joining Shottery Sixth Form but are not currently a student here, we ask that you please complete the application form (which you can download at the bottom of this page) and return it to:

The application deadline is Friday 14th February, 2020, We accept applications at any point following our Open Evening (Tuesday 19th November, 2019). Once the application deadline has passed, the sixth form team will contact you about your application. If you do not hear from us, please do let us know! We know that plans change, so for whatever reason you may have missed our deadline, please do still get in touch.

Almost half our sixth form students join us in Year 12. Students may be admitted into the sixth form irrespective of where they live, but they must be able to attend school from 8.50am – 4.00pm each day, and be prepared to play a full part in the life of the school.

Please remember that entry to our Year 12 is on the basis of academic ability demonstrated by achievement at GCSE. Confirmed places in Year 12 can therefore only be allocated following GCSE Results Day in August. To obtain a place in Year 12 students require a minimum of 54 points from their best eight GCSE results using the new GCSE points system of Grades 9-1. (For GCSEs receiving grades from the previous grading system the following conversions will apply: A*=8, A=7, B=6, C=5, etc). Maths and English Language GCSE are required at Grade 6 or above. To be able to take a particular post-16 subject we would prefer students to achieve at least 7 (or A and above) grade at GCSE in that subject (or a specified equivalent subject). The School’s Admissions Committee will make the final decision on admissions to Year 12 on GCSE Results Day.

For more details on our admissions processes, please see our Admissions Policy.

We encourage you to apply. We understand that the new GCSEs are more challenging and that grade boundaries are still shifting. We’d love to give the right people the opportunity to succeed with us.

Please note that we are committed to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds within our admissions criteria. To obtain a place in Year 12 disadvantaged students require a minimum of 51 points from their best eight GCSE results using the new GCSE points system of Grades 9-1 as shown above.

Please email the school at admissions@sggs.org.uk for more advice and information. You can find out more about our students' academic success on the Results page of our website.
