Admissions

We are delighted that you are considering Stratford Girls' Grammar School, one of the best state schools in the country and the top performing school in Warwickshire, for your daughter. If you wish to find out more about our school, please join us at one of our Open Events.

Entry to Year 7

Each year we take 120 students into Year 7. Admission to the School in Year 7 is determined by a child's performance in the Entrance Test (the 11+) and the School's oversubscription criteria. For details of our oversubscription criteria please see our Admissions Policy for 2025 below.

Our Year 7 Admissions are coordinated by Warwickshire Admissions on behalf of the school. Please refer to the Admissions Policy applicable to your daughter’s year of entry for information regarding your application for a Year 7 place.

If your daughter was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 you may register for her to sit the test for entry in September 2025 between 7th May 2024 and 30th June 2024.

Candidates may sit the 11+ Entrance Test once only.

To find out more about admissions or registering for the 11+, including how to register your daughter, please visit the Warwickshire Admissions website or contact them on admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk; telephone 01926 414143.

For any matters outside admissions or registering for the 11+, prior to National Offer Day on 1st March, please contact the Headteacher's PA by email on HeadsPA@sggs.org.uk.

The 11+ Test

Warwickshire Admissions will provide you with information about the test date and arrangements.  For further information, please visit their website.

The 11+ test currently used in Warwickshire includes a mixture of questions which cover skills relating to English, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

The test is in a multiple-choice format and is completed in one session that lasts about three hours (with a break). The raw data is then standardised and weighted to provide a total score for each child.

Further 11+ information can be obtained by visiting the Warwickshire Admissions Grammar School’s page on their website.

In-Year Transfers - Years 7 to 11

Stratford Girls’ Grammar School does not operate a waiting list for Year 7 after 31st December.

Admission to any school outside the usual age of transfer can be complex and take some time to complete.  Therefore, it is important that parents/carer take account of the long timescales involved in the process when planning to apply for admission to the school.

Stratford Girls’ Grammar School is usually over-subscribed in Years 7-11.  Even where students are of a comparable academic standard to their peer group, it will usually be necessary to lodge a formal appeal for admission to the school.  Please be aware that the vast majority of applications and appeals are unsuccessful, even where a student has achieved the qualifying standard.

If your daughter is 11 years old, please contact Warwickshire Admissions on 01926 414143 or email them on admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk in order to register your daughter for the 11+ test.  They will be able to explain your position with regard to the 11+ testing and the appeals system.

If your daughter is 12 years or older, you can apply through Warwickshire Admissions – admissions@warwickshire.gov.uk.  If you decide to proceed with an application and your daughter did not sit the Warwickshire 11+, she will be required to sit our formal entrance test to confirm whether she is of similar ability to the Year Group cohort.  To register for the formal entrance test for your daughter, please complete the Enquiry Form.

Please note our school entrance tests cannot be conducted online and your daughter will need to be booked to sit our test here at Stratford Girls’ Grammar School. Various dates are available throughout the year.

Our Appeals Process Enquiry

For those who are not successful in gaining a place, Warwickshire Admissions organise admission appeals on behalf of SGGS. Details (including the timetable for organising and hearing admission appeals) can be found here.
